Did you know over 50% of all the plastic ever made has been produced since 2004? Are you feeling overwhelmed by the scale of the plastic problem? Giving up plastic straws is a small step to get started.

Ontario County Department of Sustainability and Solid Waste Management is dedicated to reducing single use plastic waste throughout our county. The Department has developed a campaign that partners with businesses to encourage an opt in policy that requires a customer to request a straw instead of being provided one automatically. The campaign is an optional program, not a ban. The Department believes that business owners and customers value practices that reduce waste.
